OpenBuildings™ Station Designer Help

Sending Views to Other Applications

In Windows, you can use OpenBuildings Station Designer to send views to other applications. You can use OLE2 or DDE technologies to exchange data.

OLE2 enables document objects from OpenBuildings Station Designer to be served to other applications, which are called containers, such as Microsoft Word or Excel. A OpenBuildings Station Designer view object is a picture of a OpenBuildings Station Designer view that can be modified. The OLE2 document technology provides seamless integration of OpenBuildings Station Designer view objects into container documents by embedding.

View objects are sent via Embedding. An embedded object is a view object that lives in its container application. Because changes to the source object do not affect the embedded object, you can only edit an embedded object in its container.
